Nights

That night we slept
In the abandoned movie set,
The sky shone the cold wet blue
Through those open portals
Punctuating the ruinous freight depot.

That night we slept
In the convention hall of a large hotel,
Under stacked round table bare carapaces.
It was ghostly
As the tall door a fraction ajar
Cast a fabric spear of stale bustle
Across our folded den.

That night we slept
By the unlit swimming pool
Outside my old brick apartment tower,
It was dry glass
In dipped deep whitecoat.
Vinyl strapping pressed through
Our clothes and the sky,
Sheer stretched stocking of night
Tied off behind oaks and some lit wndows.
